Mountain Moments
Years ago I read Look to the Mountain by Le Grand Cannon Jr. He described the mountains as majestic, moody, even magical. I was intrigued. But I was a flatlander, so they were just words. Then my husband, Lucie (our chocolate lab), and I moved to western North Carolina, where we live in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Finally, I get it. My series, Mountain Moments, expresses how the mountains live in my soul.

Expressionism—My Way
I once tried to paint realistic trees, skies, flowers, even waves. My paintings were terrible—they didn’t feel like me. I considered dumping my art supplies in the trash and buying a bowling ball. Then I discovered classic abstract expressionism. My work is similar. But it is mine. My series, Expressionism—My Way, celebrates my passion for vibrant colors, enhanced with tactile textures. I invite you to reach out and touch them.

Flower Power
My Grandma Henley loved flowers. Hollyhocks grew wild in the alley behind her house. Her friends named this humble alley “Hollyhock Lane” in honor of the woman they loved. Grandma passed in 1966. I still miss her every day. My series, Flower Power, is a tribute to my grandma.

“Face Fascination” is a psychologist’s buzz phrase. Why? It turns out that faces tell a story about what it means to be human. Each story is different. I created my series Someone. No One. Everyone. to honor my passion for storytelling. Who do you see?
